Sea cliffs, hidden coves and the best views over Benidorm bay — the Sierra Helada natural park is right on the city's doorstep. Here's how to explore it.
Rising straight out of the sea between Benidorm and Albir, the Sierra Helada is a protected coastal range of dramatic cliffs, pine slopes and clifftop viewpoints. It's one of the easiest slices of wild Costa Blanca to reach from the city.
The best viewpoints
From the ridge you get sweeping views over Benidorm's skyline, Poniente beach and the island of Benidorm offshore. On a clear day you can see for miles along the coast in both directions.
Coves, the lighthouse and the cross
The Albir lighthouse walk is an easy, mostly flat coastal path with turquoise water below — perfect for families. More adventurous walkers climb to the Creu de l'Alberca (the cross) high on the ridge for the park's most rewarding panorama.
How to explore it
- Bring water, sun protection and proper footwear — there's little shade on the ridge.
- Early morning and late afternoon give the best light and cooler temperatures.
- The Albir lighthouse path is stroller- and family-friendly; the ridge routes are steeper.
- Combine a guided coastal buggy or quad tour with a walk for the full experience.
