Algar Waterfalls: Off-Road Adventure Guide from Benidorm
The Fuentes del Algar are the Costa Blanca's most refreshing day trip. Here's what to expect, when to go and why the buggy route is the best way there.

The Fuentes del Algar — the Algar Waterfalls — sit in the hills above Callosa d'en Sarrià, about 30 minutes from Benidorm. Crystal-clear water tumbles through a gorge into a chain of natural pools you can swim in. It's one of the Costa Blanca's best summer escapes.
Why go by buggy or quad
You can drive there in a normal car, but the fun is in the journey. An off-road tour takes the back routes through orchards, ridges and mountain viewpoints, so the ride is every bit as memorable as the swim at the end.
What to bring
- Swimwear and a towel — the pools are cool and fed by mountain springs.
- Water shoes for the rocky riverbed.
- Sun cream, water and a light snack.
- A dry bag or waterproof case for your phone.
Best time to visit
Go early or late in the day in July and August to beat the heat and the crowds. Late spring and early autumn are quieter and still warm enough to swim. The site has a small entrance fee and seasonal opening hours, so check ahead in winter.
Want the full experience? Our guided Algar Waterfalls tour handles the route and timing — you just enjoy the ride and the swim.
